Not only for Kids: Garbage Pail Kids & Political Satire

The effects of the Garbage Pail Kids marketing campaign are still evident in Israeli popular culture. A notable example is the use of the Hebrew phrase Havurat HaZevel in political discourse, where it has become a derogatory metaphor to cast certain groups or individuals in a negative light. Their visual and textual elements also became a vehicle for political satire, widely adopted by caricaturists in Israeli daily press.
