Visiting Zion from America - Ulysses S Grant and the Holy Land
The First American president ever to set foot in the Land of Israel was American Civil-War hero Ulysses S. Grant. Grant’s descriptions of his 1878 trip bespeak conflicting images of the land and anticipated America’s growing role in the entire region.
This seris will focus on the relationship between Americans- Jews and others, Zionism and the Holy Land.
