Prof. Yeshayahu Leibowitz (1903-1994) of Jerusalem was an original, learned, and bold philosopher. He developed a fascinating approach to Judaism, based on the philosophies of Maimonides and Immanuel Kant. He fearlessly discussed the most difficult questions of religion, Zionism, and the State of Israel. He was a source of inspiration to many and also irritated many – but to this day he remains an Israeli thinker who should not be ignored.
