In the last decades of his life, Litvinovsky returned to images he had painted in the past, but this time, as an older artist, he came back to their core characteristics and sought to distil them into the essence of colour and form. These works, many of which were painted in oil-based pastel in a style reminiscent of children's drawings, are based on free improvisation that removes unnecessary detail and focuses on simple colourful lines that convey innocence, simplicity, precision, and joy of life.
